Information:
YOU are @, the brave adventurer sent as humanity’s last hope. YOU must recover the lost sword, Sunsword, which was lost ages ago. Or something like that. The point is there are monsters, and they’re probably responsible for all the bad stuff that’s been happening in the Village of Brynn. As our story begins, you happen upon the Village and learn of it’s woes.

This game’s got everything! Monsters.. sandwiches.. weapons.. gold coins.. What are you waiting for?

How to Play:
You will, eventually, find yourself in the Dungeons of Doom. It’s inevitable. The guide below will be your handbook in your travels, it will teach you what every adventurer must know in order to survive in the world of Netwhack. You can also see this list in-game by pressing ‘?’.

Command Guide:

Key Command
Numpad/
arrow keys
Move around
. (period) rest
, (comma) pick something up
> descend stairs
< ascend stairs
c chat with or talk to someone (monsters, shopkeepers, etc)
d drop something you’re carrying
e eat something (sandwiches, dead bodies, etc)
g give (give or show an item to someone)
i open inventory
o open or close a door. also works on secret doors, if you know they are there.
p populate — spawn a random monster (for testing purposes only!)
q quaff (drink) water, a potion, or other liquid
r read (a book, a sign, a scroll, etc)
s search (you can sometimes find a secret door like this)
z zap (shoot a wand, use a magic item)
shift-s (S) save game
shift-q (Q) quit the game
ctrl-L show last messages (helpful to check if you missed a message)
ctrl-R refresh (redraw) the screen
